ANN ARBOR ISSUES PERMITS FOR VEHICLES USING
ON-STREET COMMERCIAL LOADING ZONES
Effective Feb. 1, 2010, vehicles parked in the street in designated commercial loading zones in downtown Ann Arbor are required to have specially-issued permits displayed on the driver-side front windows. The permits allow vehicles with commercial plates to use the unmetered commercial parking zones up to the time limit posted at each site. The downtown area has been divided into four color-coded quadrants, with commercial loading-zone permits available for individual quadrants ($200/calendar year per quadrant) or a citywide loading zone access permit to all quadrants for $700 for a calendar year. One “free” commercial loading zone is provided in each quadrant, in addition to free loading zones in the public alleys. The commercial parking zone permits are available from the city’s Customer Service Center, open weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in person at 220 E. Huron, located diagonally across the street from City Hall. Eligible applicants must provide in person or by mail a copy of the vehicle commercial license plate registration, a completed Commercial Loading Zone Permit application form, and payment. Information on Ann Arbor’s parking permits — including a map of the commercial loading zones within each quadrant — is available on the city’s front Web page under “Parking,” at www.a2gov.org/parking, and by phone at (734) 794-6320.
