Celebrate Summer in Downtown Ann Arbor

June 4, 2026 - September 28, 2026

Welcome to A2 Summer Streets, Ann Arbor's signature summer tradition presented by the Main Street Area Association. Throughout the summer, downtown streets transform into vibrant pedestrian-friendly spaces filled with outdoor dining, shopping, live entertainment, art, and community activities.

Whether you're meeting friends for dinner, exploring local shops, enjoying live music, or simply taking in the energy of downtown, A2 Summer Streets offers a unique way to experience Ann Arbor all season long.

Summer Streets Road Closures

Summer Streets brings expanded outdoor dining, shopping, and community experiences to downtown Ann Arbor throughout the summer.

Weekly Closure Schedule

  • Thursday at 4 PM: Main Street and Liberty Street close to vehicle traffic

  • Friday at 2 PM: Washington Street closes to vehicle traffic

  • Monday at 6 AM: All streets reopen to vehicle traffic

Season-Long Closure
Liberty Street between Fourth Avenue and the first alley west of Fourth Avenue (near Spencer) will remain closed for the duration of the Summer Streets season, except during designated special events.

Getting Downtown During Construction

The 2026 construction season is one of the busiest in Ann Arbor's history, with several major infrastructure and utility projects taking place throughout the downtown area. While visitors may encounter road closures, detours, and changes to traffic patterns, downtown businesses remain open and parking structures continue to be accessible.

Before your visit, we encourage you to:

  • Allow extra travel time

  • Plan your route in advance

  • Check current road closures and construction updates

  • Consider walking, biking, rideshare, or public transit when possible

For the latest information on road closures and construction impacts, visit the City of Ann Arbor's Road and Lane Closures page.
